On Saturday, September 12th, our 7th Louth Coastal Cub Section set out on two wheels for a memorable link-up cycle along the stunning Carlingford Greenway—marking a milestone moment as five of our Cubs prepare to step up to Scouts.
The day delivered classic scouting conditions: bright spirits, open trails, and typical Irish weather. Between stretches of glorious sunshine, we welcomed a few passing showers and the odd downpour just to test our resilience! For many in the group, it was their very first time tackling the Greenway route. The trail was broken up with two essential pit stops: well-earned ice cream along the way and a scenic lunch break right by the water.
A Fond Farewell as Five Cubs Move Up to Scouts
While the cycle made for a brilliant day out, it also served as an official send-off. We bid farewell to Ellen, Tauras, Maitiú, Jonathan, and Zach as they wrap up their Cub journey and transition into the Scout Section.
Having these five in the section has been an absolute privilege. Over their time with us, they have consistently shown what Scouting is all about:
- Resilience & Adventure: Ready to tackle every challenge head-on, rain or shine.
- Warmth & Humor: Bringing fun, high spirits, and smiles to every meeting and outing.
- Respect & Teamwork: Setting a great example for the younger Cubs around them.
They will be sorely missed around the den, but their scouting adventure is only picking up speed. We wish every one of them the best as they take on bigger hikes, new skills, and fresh adventures with Scouts.
