
Excitement was in the air as the Coastal Cubs made their much-anticipated return to Portlick Scout Campsite for a weekend packed with adventure, learning, and fun. Nestled on the shores of Lough Ree, the picturesque campsite provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable outdoor experience.
The Cubs arrived on Friday evening, eager to pitch tents, reunite with friends, and begin a weekend filled with activities. After settling into camp, the group gathered around the campfire for songs, games, and stories, setting the tone for the days ahead.
Saturday was action-packed from start to finish. The Cubs took part in a variety of outdoor challenges, including tag archery, team-building exercises, ziplining and nature exploration. Working together, they navigated obstacle courses, learned new scouting skills, and discovered more about the local wildlife and environment surrounding the campsite.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the water-based activities on Lough Ree. Under the supervision of qualified instructors, the Cubs enjoyed kayaking and other aquatic adventures, building confidence while having plenty of fun on the water.
Throughout the camp, the Cubs demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm. Leaders praised the young scouts for their positive attitude and willingness to embrace every challenge. The camp also provided valuable opportunities for members to develop independence, strengthen friendships, and put scouting values into practice.
As the weekend drew to a close, the group reflected on their achievements and memorable moments. Although tired from their adventures, the Cubs departed Portlick with smiles on their faces, new skills to be proud of, and lasting memories to cherish.
