It was a proud and memorable evening at Piperstown as our Scout Group gathered for our annual Group Investiture night, celebrating the growth, commitment, and achievements of both our adult volunteers and youth members.
Adult Leadership Recognitions & The Gilwell Neckerchief
A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Gilwell Training Neckerchief, awarded following the completion of the Core Scouting Ireland Scouter Training Elements in December 2025.
The Gilwell Training Neckerchief represents a significant milestone in adult leadership development. It is presented to Scouters who successfully complete the Scouter in Action stage of the adult training scheme—specifically upon finishing the “You, The Scouter” leadership course and earning their Wood Badge Beads.
In addition to this milestone:
- Chief Scout Commendation of Merit: Our Group Leader, Bobby Cunningham, was formally presented with the prestigious Chief Scout Commendation of Merit in recognition of his sustained service and outstanding leadership.
- Safety & First Aid Qualifications: Two of our Scouters were presented with their REC 3 Emergencies Level 6 Certification from Scouting Ireland, following their successful completion of the intensive Rescue Emergency Care Level 3 course, bolstering our outdoor safety capabilities.
Welcoming New Members Across All Five Sections
Investiture nights are also an important time to look ahead to the future of the group. During the ceremony, we officially invested:
- Three new adult Scouters, who step up into volunteer leadership roles to support our growing programmes.
- New youth members across our five sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures, and Rovers), taking their Scout Promise and beginning their journey with the group.
A massive congratulations to everyone recognised for their hard work and dedication, and a very warm welcome to the new leaders and youth members joining our ranks for the Scouting Year ahead.
