Halloween is one of the most exciting times of the year for our Scouts and Cubs! It’s a chance to get creative, have some spooky fun, and work together as a group. Here are some ideas for each section to enjoy this Halloween:
For Beavers and Cubs (Ages 6–9):
- Pumpkin Decorating: Instead of carving, use paints, stickers, and craft materials to decorate mini pumpkins.
- Spooky Trail: Set up a Halloween-themed nature trail at your Scout den or local park — complete with glow sticks and hidden surprises!
- Monster Masks: Make your own monster or ghost masks using recycled materials.
- Witch’s Brew Science: Mix up safe, fizzy “potions” using baking soda, vinegar, and food colouring.
- Costume Parade: Encourage everyone to come in costume and have a fun catwalk parade with prizes for the funniest, scariest, or most creative costumes.
For Scouts (Ages 9–12):
- Haunted Campfire Night: Share ghost stories, roast marshmallows, and tell tall tales around the fire.
- Zombie Survival Challenge: Set up a team obstacle course where Scouts must complete challenges to “survive the zombie apocalypse.”
- Pumpkin Catapults: Build small catapults and see who can launch mini pumpkins the farthest!
- Escape Room Challenge: Create a Halloween-themed escape room with clues, puzzles, and creepy surprises.
- Night Hike: Head out for a moonlit walk (with adult supervision!) to enjoy the spooky sounds of the night.
